Neuromuscular | Myofascial Pain Dysfunction

Myofascial Pain Dysfunction (MPD) is a disorder that is estimated to afflict up to 40 million Americans.  It is a chronic illness which consists of some of the following symptoms:

  • Headaches

  • Dizziness

  • Numbness in fingers and arms

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • Limited movement or locking of the jaw

  • Clicking or grating sounds in the jaw joints

  • Pain behind the eyes

  • Neck, shoulder or back pain

  • Facial pain

  • Unexplained loosening of the teeth

  • Earaches, stuffiness or ringing

  • Pain or soreness in and around the jaw joints

Since there are such a variety of symptoms, MPD is often misdiagnosed.  Studies show that 70% to 75% of MPD patients are female.
